World Mental Health Day – 10th October 2021

Sunday 10th October was World Mental Health Day, with this year’s theme being ‘Mental Health in an Unequal World’.

In recognition of World Mental Health Day, DDCAP staff were invited to wear thieir green ribbon (which they received upon their return to the workplace!) and/or add the green ribbon to their virtual screens to raise awareness and demonstrate our collective commitment to mental health in the workplace and show colleagues, family and friends who may be struggling that they are not alone. For those amongst us who are creative and wished to recycle for this purpose, instructions on how to create an Origami Green Ribbon, were shared which staff could use and be resourceful! DDCAP also turned our social media green with customised green ribbon banners!

In addition to the above, DDCAP also launched ‘five mindful minutes’, whereby staff were encouraged to take the time to have five mindful minutes during their day, given the proven benefits this has for our mental health! Employees were encouraged to share their activities during daily team calls to inspire each other to join the campaign and promote the benefits of such actions, whether this be a stroll around the garden or a walk to the local coffee shop!

Finally, we will be arranged a gathering (virtually!) to encourage personnel to come together in recognition of the importance of ensuring that everyone feels mentally and emotionally supported. This was a fun virtual team building exercise, hosted online, to bring everyone together in a slightly different way.

We hope that you enjoyed joining us in recognising World Mental Health Day.
