Hj. Ahmad Nazir Che Yen acts as a Mentor for the Federation of British International Schools in Asia

Hj. Ahmad Nazir Che Yen, who serves as our Business Development Director in Kuala Lumpur, was invited to act as a Mentor for the Federation of British International Schools in Asia. The 2024 FOBISIA Student Leadership Conference “IMPACTING LIVES, CHANGING FUTURES” took place from 2nd – 4th February this year at Prince of Wales Island International School, Penang. Hj. Nazir’s invitation resulted from an opportunity presented to us by the CEO of the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (BMCC), of which we are a member.

For 2024, the opportunity to participate in the FOBISIA Student Leadership Conference was opened to all secondary school students within Years 7 to 13 in FOBISIA Schools, with 300 places made available to students on a first come, first served basis.

Featuring a live Race4Good experience as well as access to Malaysian and regional young leaders with international leadership experience and who were past winners of awards (including Obama Award, Queen’s Young Leader Award, Your Big Year 2011), the Conference program included interactive workshops, engaging discussions, a Leaders’ Ball and talent show and a community uplift experience in various locations around Penang. There were also networking opportunities for students and teachers alike to connect with NGO’s and changemaking organisations from Malaysia as well as elsewhere in Southeast Asia.

Hj. Nazir was tasked to share his business experience and guided the students in the Race4Good Challenge with the team, which included year 10/11 students, choosing to focus on business innovation to produce Artic Salt. Hj. Nazir’s team competed against 5 other groups, and we are delighted to confirm that, in addition to learning and developing new skills for business, they won the challenge!

Hj. Nazir has since described the conference as “an uplifting learning adventure for the student leaders and those leading social, economic and environmental change making (e.g. Eco Committees, Rotary Clubs, Humanitarian Programmes)”.

Our sincere thanks to Hj. Nazir for volunteering to support the 2024 FOBISIA Student Leadership Conference and travelling to Penang. His personal commitment to help deliver a Conference intended to positive impact at multiple levels is commendable and we at DDCAP Group are rightly proud of Hj. Nazir and his team! Our thanks also to the BMCC for presenting such a wonderful opportunity to us.
