DDCAP Group™ celebrates its one year anniversary of the DDGI Limited Representative Office in Kuala Lumpur and formally launches the Executive Summary of its Case Study on Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability.

On the evening of Tuesday, 21 January, DDCAP Group hosted a reception at the Traders Hotel in Kuala Lumpur to mark the one year anniversary of the DDGI Limited Representative Office in Kuala Lumpur.

Clients and key contacts were invited to an evening of networking and nibbles and, as part of the anniversary celebrations, DDCAP Group formally launched the Executive Summary of its Case Study on Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability on the night.

DDCAP Group was honoured to have Mr. Shukran of the International Shari’ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA) open the event with a prayer for the evening’s success.  Professor Dr. Akram Laldin, Executive Director of ISRA and esteemed member and SRA Champion of DDCAP Group’s Shariah Supervisory Board, gave the first presentation of the evening, discussing the convergence of the Maqasid Al Shari’ah and sustainable and responsible business and the importance of Malaysia’s increasing focus on sustainable finance.  With this foundation, DDCAP Group’s Head of Corporate Responsibility, Associate Director Jennifer Schwalbenberg, officially launched the Executive Summary of DDCAP’s Case Study and discussed DDCAP’s sustainable and responsible actions (SRA) programme and the key role small and medium enterprises (SMEs) can play in promoting responsible business practices. Whilst the full case study will be launched in February through the RFI Foundation, DDCAP Group was pleased to have the opportunity to present its work first in Malaysia where there is a strong top-down focus on sustainability and sustainable finance.

In the second part of the evening’s presentation, DDCAP Deputy CEO Lawrence Oliver provided an overview of DDCAP Group’s role as an investor in fintech and halal economy tech and the ever increasing opportunities in this area. Mr. Oliver then welcomed Islamic Markets Limited CEO  Shakeeb Saqlain to the podium to speak about their learning and financial intelligence platform.   Islamic Markets Limited, in which DDCAP Group made a strategic investment in 2019, recently opened an office in Kuala Lumpur to further expand their offering in Southeast Asia.

Roslan Ahmad, Chief Representative, DDGI Limited Representative Office Kuala Lumpur, gave the closing remarks. Mr Ahmad thanked the KL financial community for a warm welcome this past year and reiterated that DDCAP looks forward to continuing to work together in the years to come.

In the spirit of sustainability, the event was almost paperless. Marketing materials and copies of the Executive Summary of the Case Study were made available to guests through a QR code. After the event, each guest was presented with an MSC-certified wooden box containing a USB stick with the QR codes for both sets of documents.
